Beverley Chappell Escpaes With A Fine For Positive Swab
Quays On Logan, which won at Albion Park on the 30th October 2008, subsequently returned a positive swab to Deaxamethasone and Procaine, two potent anti-inflammatories.
Greyhounds Queensland Stewards convened an Inquiry on the 9th January 2009 in relation to the urine sample taken from the greyhound Quays On Logan which competed on the 30th of October 2008 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club in Race 7 (placed 1st) and subsequently returned positive to the drugs Dexamethasone and Procaine.
Greyhounds Queensland Stewards directed Trainer Mrs. B. Chappell of Carbrook to appear.
Evidence was taken from Mrs. Chappell and Mr. E. Chappell along with a number of written submissions.
Stewards charged the Trainer under GAR 83 (2) (a) (d) which states;
- (2) The owner, trainer or person in charge of a greyhound
- (a) nominated to compete in an Event
- (d) shall present the greyhound free of any drug
Mrs. Chappell pleaded guilty as charged
Mrs. Chappell escaped any period of disqualification or suspension with just a $750 fine imposed by stewards.
In accordance with the rules Greyhounds Queensland Stewards disqualified Quays On Logan from his winning run in Race 7 on the 30th October 2009.
