Big Thunder makes noise in Gunnedah masterclass

Bit Thunder leads the fields home in the fifth grade event at Gunnedah.

Big Thunder struck on Thursday in his first look at Gunnedah, winning the 1-3 Wins 431m race.

After a win at Temora on July 7, the Nevyl Hand-trained chaser was sent out as a favourite $2.40 with top online bookmakers.

Big Thunder beat home Swift Montana ($3.40) by three and a half lengths in a time of 25.12, with Rum Night ($11) further back in third place.

With a second on debut at Nowra over the 365m on May 8, Big Thunder went on to win at Goulburn over the 350m at his next start.

He has strong form at the Temora track with five starts for two wins and three placings.

The Barcia Bale x Amy’s Firework dog has four wins and five placings from 10 starts banking $9,890 in prize money.

Trainer Nevyl Hand had another winner earlier in the card with Give It Away.

The Aston Dee Bee x Motor City Gem chaser has run the Gunnedah 431m four times, winning on two occasions.

On Thursday he won by close to seven lengths at $1.18, beating home Panama Express ($9) and Tremors ($71) in the win.

Give It Away relishes the red box having jumped from there five times, recording three wins.

With a debut on February 15 over 520m at Wentworth Park, finishing in fifth, it took him seven starts for him to land in the winner’s circle over the Richmond 520m.

He has four wins and seven placings from 17 career starts, banking $10,110 in prize money.
