Box Draws Complete For Group Greyhound Racing Extravaganza At The Meadows – Temlee, Rookie Rebel, Zoom Top Fields
The Meadows will host one of the most anticipated nights of greyhound racing next Saturday as box draws were finalised for the Group 1 Temlee ($75,000 to the winner), Group 2 Rookie Rebel ($40,000) and Group 2 Zoom Top ($40,000).
Sponsored by Macro Meats, the three Group races will herald the start of the Australian Cup Carnival, with over $800,000 in prizemoney given away over the three-week festival of racing.
As always, the box draws have thrown up some interesting scenarios.
Freakish West Australian chaser Miata – who will start a short-priced favourite next Saturday night – has drawn box one in the Group 2 Zoom Top, while Group 1 Silver Chief runner-up Glen Gallon has drawn favourably in box one for the Temlee.
The Rookie Rebel looks to be a very open race, with leading fancies Noble Pedro and Don Chendo drawing awkwardly in boxes four and five, respectively.
Saturday's meet will also see the running of Group 1 Rover Mowers Australian Cup preliminaries, with eight greyhounds progressing to Australian Cup heats on February 25 with 56 previously seeded greyhounds.
