Calypso Queen breaks through for her first SA win

Calypso Queen broke through for her first win down the Murray Bridge straight on Tuesday afternoon on her 13th attempt.

Trained and owned by Ed Kowalewski, Calypso Queen was sent out a +550 chance with greyhound bookmakers in the 1-2 win 6th grade event.

Coming into the race as the veteran of just one win from a 51-start career, Calypso Queen had previously run five minor placings from 13 prior starts at the 300m trip.

Jumping from the seven box, she came out to the lead soon after, with race -400 favourite Despairing sitting second out wide.

But Calypso Queen was able to hold the lead the entire trip, beating home Talent Scout by 0.5 lengths in 17.40, with Despairing fading for third.

From the 2020 litter of eight out of by Feral Franky, Calypso Queen has some classy siblings that include Harrison Dawson Final placegetter , who lines up in the Chase (MDC) consolation race on .

As well as this year's Final winner, , who has 11 wins and 17 minor placings from 45 career starts and has amassed $229,875 in prize money.

Calypso Queen has lined up 52 times and has struggled to find wins, saluting on only two occasions for 16 minor placings with $5,350 in prizemoney earned since debuting in August 2022.
