Cambridge King wins 2023 Million Dollar Chase maiden consolation

won a chaotic 2023 Maiden Consolation race on night.

The opening race on Chase Grand Final night, the $7,000-to-the-winner MDC Maiden consolation race for the maidens, was run, with an outsider saluting after half the field fell soon after box rise.

Cambridge King, who started at +1400 odds for trainer , jumped fairly from box four was able to punch up on the rail under early leader Tear Tremor.

After Cartier's Finest, Spring Eureka, and the other Hore-trained Sunshine Gal fell before the first turn, Cambridge King secured the lead and dictated terms into the final section down to the finish line.

He beat Tear Tremor by 2.0 lengths in 30.14, with Boston Banner finishing third, paying +2500 with online bookmakers.

The x dog for the final after finishing third in his heat last week behind Battle Tears.

From three starts, he has one win and two minor placings after finishing runner-up in his debut on September 7.

All three of the fallen greyhounds finished the course.

Hore, who has spent time training in New Zealand, said after the win he was considering sending Cambrdige King to NZ to target a few races of there in the near future.
