Chapel Road triumphs in 2024 Group 3 Mount Gambier Cup

On Sunday, April 14, greyhound trainer Kiah Hurley, from Two Wells, South Australia, watched her greyhound Chapel Road achieve a career-defining feat for both trainer and greyhound when winning the 2024 .

The win was well deserved for after Chapel Road was runner-up in the 2024 Group 3 Cup in mid-March.

Chapel Road made every post a winner, leading from the start with Paua Of Silence chasing close behind.

Mighty Quinn emerged late as a potential contender but finished second, two lengths behind Chapel Road, in 29.56 seconds.

Chapel Road scored a career defining win for both greyhound and trainer when leading all the way in the 2024 Group 3 Cup.

Post-race Hurley was filled with joy and thanked her family, especially her partner Justin Tribe, for their support.

Hurley expressed sadness that her late “Pa”, John Hurley, missed out on witnessing her first group race win.

Chapel Road, by out of , was racing in only his second group race final.

The 33kg black dog, who just turned three years old at the start of the month, scored his ninth win from 41 career starts, which has netted a further 20 placings.

Chapel Road, who is owned by the Lalli Maynard Syndicate (Nick Lalli and Troy Maynard), arrived at Kiah Hurley's kennel only in November 2023.

In testimony to Hurley's training ability, she has started Chapel Road just four times for three wins and a second, with all of those starts being at Group 3 level.
