Clear Sage Wins Dubbo GRNSW Challenge
Despite running third in its heat behind Modern Supreme and Sweet Fancy on Friday night, Clear Sage firmed in from $4.90 to $3.70 with the late punters.
The black and white Sydney dog led from the jump from box six in a swift time of 30.22 seconds.
Runner-up Groper Mick gave trainer Mark Bell the quinella while Sweet Fancy ran third.
Alstonville's Neville Robson achieved a similar double in the other $5000 race, the Greyhound Leader Future Star 5th grade 313m final over.
Robson had the one, two and three boxes covered for the final and saw Allegro Vision dash home for the win and Hifi Allegro second while Rebel Ruler finished third for Wagga's Brian Honey.
Earlier in the evening Charmaine Roberts had reason to cheer after she trained the winner of the Dubbo GBOTA Stayers Cup over 600 metres with Riskit in a time of 35.03 from the six.
Another winner from six was the highly fancied Rip Van Rip from Pam Braddon's kennels in Cowra in the BBE/LH Greyhound Supplies Gall over 516m.
Jumpin Canary, another of Bell's greyhounds, finished second while fastest qualifier Cotton Jenny rounded out the minor places.
Dubbo's Greg Ford managed two winners during the day session of 10 races with red-hot $1.45 favourite Iddy Biddy Moo in the Carpet One Dubbo Stakes (313m) and Lethal Grin ($4.00) in the Free Choice West Dubbo Stakes (400m).
Roberts won the first race of the morning with Taylah Keeping ($1.81fav) going according to plan for the punters in the All Codes Racing Service Stakes (400m).
