At just over four years old, Majestic Puzzle along with grand campaigner Token Mulwee both proved that age is no barrier with their experience and consistent performances the tonic for a GRNSW Country Challenge Showdown appearance.
From the highly regarded John Mellon kennel, Majestic Puzzle had its first career start back at the old Moss Vale track and has since plied his trade to great effect across New South Wales.
The road to Wentworth Park for Majestic Puzzle started back in November when he contested a heat of the Goulburn GRNSW Country Challenge. Unfortunately on this day, he drew in the same race as star Mountain Of Love but ran a close second to qualify for the final a week later. While he managed to turn the tables on Mountain Of Love in the final, he still could only sneak a placing as Awesome Hustler recorded a dominant win.
Appin was the next point of call where Mountain Of Love would again be the difference with Majestic Puzzle managing a fifth in the final in what was a blanket finish.
A one off event at Potts Park helped add a further six points to his tally and this was followed by a third placing in a Forbes heat where he was a firmer late in betting but couldn't get past series star Montana Belle.
Like Rocky Balboa versus Apollo Creed or Rafael Nadal versus Roger Federer, the emerging rivalry between Majestic Puzzle and Mountain Of Love heated up again for the Appin GRNSW Country Challenge.
A heat win by a head when 7/1 over his more fancied rival gave Majestic Puzzle much confidence but he couldn't repeat the dose a week later with Mountain Of Love a big winner in the final.
An inside alley and a quick start is all Majestic Puzzle needs to put himself right in the mix on Showdown night. His rematch against Mountain Of Love should again prove to be an enthralling
one.
