David Smith might be patiently waiting for his next Super Estrella, but it might already be under his nose.

The trainer-owner based at Elderslie, about 60km from Sydney, oversaw three winners at last Saturday night.

They were , and .

Oreo Ethics is two, and Tarawi Rocky and Tarawi Ferrari are not yet two.

Oreo Ethics has shown plenty of potential from his 26 starts, winning 10 of them for $36,570 in prizemoney.

He was a comfortable 2 ¾-length winner of the Ballerina Train Cup Heat 1 over 520m, the $2.40 favourite crossing the line in 29.97 seconds.

Tarawi Rocky won the WP Christmas Buffet December 17 Heat 4 over 520m in 30.42 seconds.

And in the last race on the 11-event card, Tarawi Ferrari saluted in 30.33 seconds in a fourth/fifth-grade race, also over 520m.

Smith was happy with the efforts of all three of his winners.

“Oreo and Ferrari – their tenacity. They're going really good, and Rocky's still learning,” he told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“He missed the kick a little bit. I think he's still got heaps of improvement in him.

“The other two are just race dogs and they're both in a purple patch of form.

“Oreo and Ferrari and even Rocky – there's a race in Queensland which I might go to.

“Oreo and Ferrari are strong, so they might be suited up there at .

“Apart from that, I've got a whole heap of youngsters coming through.”

One of those other star young runners is , the emerging two-year-old with six wins from 19 starts currently sidelined.

“I have Rebel Ethics (as his owner) as well, who is trained by Mark Farrugia. But he's hurt his toe,” Smith said.

“He's up there with (trained by ) as well. He's hard to beat – he's got a good record and he goes fast.

“He probably should've won the Young Star here (finishing last in the final on September 24). He goes alright, but he's out too.

“We're in finals with those two (Tarawi Ferrari and Tarawi Rocky at Wentworth Park this Saturday night).”

This year's and winner, Super Estrella, started her last race on October 15, winning a non-graded 720m event at Wentworth Park.

The three-year-old enjoyed a magnificent career under Smith's watch, winning 33 races from 70 starts.

Smith knew she would go on to have a great career, so he told owners Michael and Michelle Jones to name her accordingly.

Indeed, Super speaks for itself, and Estrella is Spanish for ‘star'.

She lived up to her name, finishing her career with $453,590 in prizemoney.

“She was a superstar. The owners chose to retire her,” Smith said

“They'll wait until she comes on season and has pups.

“I don't own her, but you hope another one comes along.

“You try to protect them because she's worth so much money at stud.”
