Dixie Gambles drawn favourably for Rocky Cup Consolation
Dixie Gambles last two runs have been from the dreaded pink box for a second and fourth, the latter seeing her 7.75 lengths off the winner.
Trainer Ken Boody is so thankful that the box draw favoured his chaser this time around with the Fernando Bale x West on Jill progeny to jump from the yellow box for her run in the Rockhampton Cup Consolation.
“We are happy that Dixie is away from that dreaded box 8 and she looks to map good from the 5,” he said.
She has had four runs from the box for two wins and two seconds, showing how she relishes the centre alley.
“She should be able to find the front from there but a lot will depend on how De Ferran jumps as it may hold her out,” Boody said.
Along with De Ferran the Rockhampton Cup field also includes Group Three winner Keen who ran second behind It’s a Roo in the heat.
“He’s terrific and has been pulling up great after his recent back muscle injury that had him out for four months,” trainer Brent Kline said.
“We have been slowly stepping him up in distance trying to get him back to his preferred 600-700m so the 507 race was just the perfect opportunity to get a good look at him and see where he is at.
“He’s drawn poorly again so we suspect he will drop back and get to the fence and stalk the leaders which he’s well known for.”
