Miss Envy lived up to her reputation as Australia’s premier race bitch, delivering a scintillating performance to claim the Group 2 Laurels Classic Final at Sandown Park.

Overcoming early interference and a challenging box draw, Miss Envy showcased her class and determination, storming home to win by four lengths in a time of 29.42 seconds.

Trained by Krystal Shinners and owned by Steve Shinners, Miss Envy was tested early after bumping with Paw Ticker but quickly recovered, weaving through the field to position herself behind early leader Spritely Sian.

As they approached the turn, Miss Envy surged along the inside, asserting her dominance in the home stretch to secure a commanding victory as the $2.40 favourite with top Australian bookmakers.

Marrakesh finished second, with Spritely Sian holding on for third, while Paw Lou Lou claimed fourth.

This win adds another accolade to Miss Envy’s remarkable career, which includes 14 victories from 21 starts and prize money nearing $300,000.

The Shinners team had expressed confidence in Miss Envy’s ability to overcome box five despite its inherent challenges, and she delivered in spectacular fashion.

The win follows her record-breaking Laurels heat victory last week, where she clocked 28.98 seconds, becoming only the second bitch to break 29.00 seconds at Sandown, a feat matched only by the iconic Wow She’s Fast.

Looking ahead, Miss Envy is set to embark on a Queensland campaign targeting the Group 2 Futurity, where she will trial at Albion Park before competing in the heats.

Previous comments stated the Melbourne Storm slot for The Phoenix was most likely going to Flying Zulu; however, with a fourth-place finish in the Hobart Thousand on Thursday night, there is a possibility we could see Miss Envy or Group 1 Hobart Thousand winner Bernie Burrow secure the final spot in the star-studded lineup.

Currently, Neds bookmaker is offering $15 for Miss Envy to win The Phoenix in the All-In odds.

The Laurels Classic victory cements Miss Envy’s place in greyhound racing history and sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting 2025 campaign.
