Incident Information

The Bunyip Ridge fire is burning in the Bunyip State Park and State Forest areas between Gembrook, Powelltown, Neerim Junction and Tonimbuk and is estimated to be approximately 25,000 hectares in size.

The communities of Powelltown, Gilderoy, Three Bridges, Basan Corner and Saint Benedicts and Currawong Drive, East Beenak Rd to the Pack Track in Gembrook no longer need to be on alert as the fire activity in the area has subsided.

Crews are patrolling these areas. People in the area do need to remain vigilant. Continue to listen to ABC or local radio for updates on this fire.

Core Advice
There may be increased amounts of smoke in the area from this fire.
Road use in the area may still be hazardous. Watch out for fallen trees, power lines, abandoned cars, wildlife and emergency services vehicles.
Residents should expect that many branches may fall from nearby trees in the next few days, and should be vigilant to protect themselves from injury.
Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
