AGRA's Greyhound of the Month for February 2010 is Victorian super stayer Drill ‘Em. The David Knocker trained distance star enjoyed a brilliant months racing in February winning two Group races during the MGRA's Australian Cup carnival.
Starting off on February 13 he won the Group 2 Zoom Top invitational in fine style defeating star South Australian Satanic Cash in 42.76. Next on February 20 he finished second to Satanic Cash in his heat of the Group 1 Macro Meats Super Stayers.
A week later, last Saturday night he found the early lead and from that point on was in no danger of defeat. He racing away to win by three and half lengths in a fast 42.53 and recorded his first Group 1 success.
For the record Drill ‘Em since switching to distance racing under the guidance of David Knocker has contested nine group race finals winning four them and running a place in another two.
Drill ‘Em will head across to Perth for his next mission the Group 1 Sky Channel Galaxy over the 715 metres at Cannington, the heats are next Saturday night March 6th and the final a week later on March 13. He will again race against the likes of Mantra Lad, Blue Lorian and most of the stayers he beat at the Meadows.
Drill ‘Em is Brindle dog whelped March '07 he is by Texas Gold from Geoff's Mate (Ashigga x Executive Maggie). The Group 1 Super Stayers win took his record to 36 starts for 14 wins and 11 placings and prizemoney earnings stand at $182,925. He is raced by the Binborrin Syndicate and trained by David Knocker at Langwarrin.
