Evil Punk Disqualified
Greyhound Racing NSW stewards have finalised inquiries into the eligibility of Evil Punk, which won Race five at Wentworth Park on 17 May 2014.
Stewards interviewed Evil Punk's trainer James Coyle and have confirmed Evil Punk was ineligible to compete in the event after it was presented at the weight of 30.1kg (1.3kg lighter than when it last raced) and was incorrectly afforded a 2kg allowance in accordance with the provisions of GAR 39 (2).
The greyhound Evil Punk has therefore been disqualified in accordance with GAR 64 (1) from its winning position in the event and the placings have been amended accordingly.

So did anyone get in trouble for the so called error
I fail to see how this is a trainer or dog issue. This is a clear mistake made by the stewards working on the scales.
You are right Callan how is this the trainer or dogs fault he was allowed over the scales and to compete in the race !!
Question is who are grnsw accountable too. We as owners and trAiners make an error we get fines suspensions but they do something wrong and no one seems to get punished
Other question is was it an honest mistake or was it a blatant disregard for the rules
The blame should not be placed all on the trainer, although they should take part responsibility. For example from a training point of view, you should be aware of what weight your dog is and knowing what it weighed in at last start. It’s as simple as weighing your dog during the week or before leaving to race. The trainer saying “it’s been trailing well” is irrelevant, they should know better. However the dogs weight should have been noticed by the two staff weighing officials, realizing that the dog has had x amount of time off and has dropped x… Read more »
Should’ve been the stewards that got in the shit the pricks

This decision is very ordinary, the dog was allowed to start by the stewards in the first place so now they try to cover there arses by disqualifying him. Maybe instead of disqualifying the dog they should have suspended the person who made the mistake
Fully agree with you Ryan that as a trainee we should monitor race weights. But for the fact the dog made it beyond the scales lays with stewards and kennel staff.
On the ruling though I race in Victoria and SA. GRV class day 28 as the option to declare new weight. However in SA it must be a clear 28 days so the dog can be presented on day 29 to declare. Is there a chance that trainer and kennel staff (stewards) made a mistake. I’m not sure where NSW stand on the day period
Once the dog was allowed to be kenneled it was out of trainers hands then he was allowed to be placed into boxes to compete for all of Australia to place their bets on the race how does this become to be james coyles fault this is clearly a case of passing the buck the race was run placings given and payed out on this is an unacceptable mistake with a great deal of money at stake someone and not the trainer has to be made accountable for this error but lets face it it will be swept under the… Read more »
No fault lies with anyone else then the steward and kennel staff involved 28 days means 28 and the grader and steward should be reprimanded!!!They know the rules Or Do they????? that after 30 days a new weight can be issued not 28 days.
And did the 2nd 3rd 4th dog get the prizemoney??????
Gra nsw. Incompetent. They need to be held accountable and answer to someone.
Once again the man at the top has stuffed up again so the Dog and Trainer pay the price. He let the Dog race so let him have his win, and punish the fool that stuffed up …AGAIN!!
The dog should never have been allowed to run, highlighting the fact retrospectively is highlighting their own misgivings. Tell us what you did about this complete stuff up GRNSW??? Tell us about your transparency and accountability? The same one that saw your own integrity officer put you in the too hard basket. This is another Mr. Metz at Dapto type stuff up.
