Explicit pings home to win Group 3 Great Chase final

Explicit jumps from Box 2
Explicit, jumping from box two, proved too strong for Great Chase final field on Wednesday.

Explicit served up a classy performance to take out the Group 3 Great Chase Final and deliver a winning quinella for his trainer at The Meadows on Wednesday afternoon.

Trained by Jason Thompson, the chaser was sent to the boxes in the $47,000-to-the-winner feature as a $4 prospect with the top greyhound betting sites.

A classy field assembled for the 525m final with kennelmate Tim Zoo ($5.70), Jetson’s Flash ($23.40) and race favourite in the Anthony Azzopardi-trained Pass The Buck ($2.50).

At box rise, Pass The Buck shot out to find the lead approaching the first corner as Gesundheit ($35.70) moved into second, outside the leader.

As Gesundheit hit the lead, Explicit moved through on the rail to take over as the leaders and Pass The Buck fell to the rear.

Explicit broke away to salute, beating home kennelmate Tim Zoo by 4.7 lengths in 29.86, with Fernando Phil ($17.40) finishing in third.

Explicit was the fastest heat winner last time out, on October 11, beating home Peaky Joe in a time of 29.70, his best time over the trip.

He has lined up six times over the journey for four wins and two minor placings, after making his career debut at the track and trip on August 2, finishing three-quarters-of-a-length second behind Quest For Peace.

From a 2022 litter of nine, out of Brueghelino and by Bernardo, Explicit is the most successful, having finished on the podium in every start with six wins and two placings from eight career races.
