Explicit’s comeback delayed after Sandown scratching
Sadly, Champion sprinter Explicit has been scratched from his highly anticipated return at Sandown Park tonight, just months after retiring following his Phoenix triumph in December.
The dual Group 1 winner was set to jump from box eight in a $9,000 free-for-all, with trainer Jason Thompson eager to test his form after a string of sharp trials.
However, fans will have to wait a little longer to see if the Melbourne Cup-winning star returns to the track.
No official reason has been given for the late scratching, but with major races like the Golden Easter Egg and The Sandgroper on the horizon, connections will be keen to ensure Explicit is at his best before stepping back into top-level competition.
