Favourite Lala Kiwi wins the TAB Australia Cup at the Meadows

PRE-POST betting favourite, , took out Saturday nights TAB at The Meadows after a faultless front running display in front of a large crowd.

The win made it six Australia Cup wins for , a win made more special after the bitch was bred at their farm at Anakie.

The daughter of x Lala Shim never really looked to be in any trouble winning ahead of the trained, Paddy Wants Pats, and Team Dailly's Gypsy Bun which both overcame poor draws.

The win made it a Silver Chief/Australia Cup double with the champion bitch winning in 29.63 and in turn taking home the $300,000 first prize.

Team Dailly representative and handler of Lala Kiwi, Tom Dailly, said it was exciting to win races after breeding them on their own farm.

“It was good and quite exciting,” he said.

“I was rapt to see her get to the front and when i saw Paddy Wants Pats sitting on her hammer i thought, I'm not sure how strong he is but i might be in a bit of trouble here, but she railed beautifully turning from home and when you do that you kick a length away and she won so it was good.

“George (Dailly) has done a sensational job with what he has been breeding lately.”

Runner-up, Paddy Wants Pats, lost no admirers from box six only going down by 1.67L

Owner/Trainer, Kelly Bravo, was ecstatic of her chaser's 2nd placing .

“I'm just so bloody proud of him,” she said.

“I didn't really give him a big chance when he drew box 6, so I'm just super happy…he's just brilliant.”

IN the second feature race of the night, it was another favourite getting home with Mepunga Ruby winning by a mammoth 8.8L for in a time of 42.15.

Orca () and Sir Truculent (Wally Harkins) rounded up the placings.

It was a reward for long-time greyhound owner, Barry Smith, who has been owning and rearing greyhounds for more than 40 years.

He shared the $100,000 first prize in what was an easy watch for punters.

AND after drawing box one in the Australian Cup Consolation Final, (Glenn Rounds), started at $1.15 and saluted for favourite punters from the cherry box in a 29.38, a nose of Allen Deeds record of 29.37.
