Federal Outlaw books Nationals spot with Murray Bridge win

Federal Outlaw took out the South Australian National Straight Track Championship Final on Monday at Murray Bridge.

The Ben Rawlings-trained chaser was sent out at $8 odds with top greyhound bookmakers in the 350m feature.

Race favourite Cash On Delivery ($2.25) jumped from the pink box to lead out wide and dictate terms for most of the journey.

In the shadows of the post, Federal Outlaw stormed home over the top of the leader to take the $10,000 grand prize.

He beat Cash On Delivery and Aston Olenna ($6) by a quarter of a length in a time of 19.05 – a slight improvement on his previous best of 19.07.

Last week in the heats, Federal Outlaw finished second to He's On Fire by a mere 0.13 of a length.

Federal Outlaw kicked off his career with a win in a maiden heat at in August last year, beating home Left To Tell.

He has since built a reputation as a consistent placer, with a 70% rate, having only gone unplaced twice in his last 19 starts.

The x Federal Lilly chaser has 11 wins and 15 placings from 37 career starts, with $51,925 in prize money banked for .

Federal Outlaw will now head to the final of the National Straight Track Championship, to be run on August 26 at with a $28,000 prize to the winner.
