Felgate Looking For Repeat Performance

Reigning Brisbane Trainer of the Year, Paul Felgate, is making a late charge for a second title with 11 starters in eight races at Albion Park this Thursday night.

Coming off the back of a winning treble at Brisbane last Tuesday week (14 October), and another on Monday night (20 October), Mr Felgate currently sits third on the trainer of the year ladder and is the leading owner of the year.

One of Mr Felgate's winners from last week , which came second on Monday night, will start in the 710m fourth and fifth grade (race four), which is sponsored by .

With a favourable box seven draw, Supreme Command will be looking to jump quickly ahead of Irish Fantasy from box eight.

However, competition may come from the inside boxes, with Mr Felgate's other starter in the race Siana Cloud, 's One Missing, and Rober Giltinan's , all boasting quicker personal bests over the 710m.

Action-packed racing will feature on the card on Thursday night, one of which is the Big Dog Pet's Foods Best Eight 600m (race eight).

The race is very open, with a field of in-form dogs including last years' Hume Cup-winner Technoman, and 's Maxie, who ran a close second behind Fast Dream last Thursday over 710m.

Black Ruler will start favourite from box one, winning his past three starts over the 600m in slick time.

Race three, the Garrard's Novice 520m, will also be hotly contested.

The Desmond Bramich-trained dog Pop Top will be looking to break a streak of second places after being outraced by a performance by last Thursday.

It won't be easy for Pop Top with Robert Giltinan's returning to Albion Park after two wins at Ipswich over 520m this month, and racing against a field which has a lot of depth chasing the $3,100 winner's cheque.

In another 520m race, the fifth grade ‘Give me Five' at Stud 520m (race five), Paul Felgate's Matching Outcome looks set to make it five wins for the month of October after winning again on Monday night.

Clocking at a best time of 30.21 last Tuesday week from box six, and winning on Monday night in 30.53 from box four, Matching Outcome is expected to perform again from box seven.

One greyhound to be watching on Thursday night is in race six, the fifth grade Winning Edge 520m.

While Track Hammer (box two) has performed well recently over this distance, 's Elated Lady (box four) will take the step up to 520m after top form over 395m.

Queensland dogs continue to dominate greyhound racing, with the Dave Irwin-trained taking out the $250,000 Platinum Paws in Christchurch last Friday.

In celebration of the win, the first race and the stand at Albion Park has been deservedly named after Size Can Matter on Thursday night.

Other Queenslanders to look out for this week include champion bitch Queen Lauryn, who will compete in the Top Gun invitational on Saturday night.
