Flying Zulu firms in feature markets after latest Shepparton win

Flying Zulu saluted again on Monday night to remain undefeated at the Shepparton 450m trip.
In the restricted-win final, the Jason Thompson-trained chaser was sent to the boxes as the +130 race favourite with greyhound bookmakers.
Jumping from the five box, he got out to the lead early as Isle’s Entity (+260) sat in second.
Around the final corner, Flying Zulu kicked away and then ran on to beat Isle’s Entity by 2.83 lengths in 24.91.

Flying Zulu’s handler, Luke Thompson, spoke with Australian Racing Greyhound post-race.
“Really happy with his performance, mostly due to how he handled himself early,” he said.
“He wasn’t one of the first ones out of the boxes, but the way he gathered momentum soon after box rise was really pleasing.”
Flying Zulu now has three victories from three starts at the track and trip, with Monday’s first sectional of 6.53 improving on his previous best of 6.58.
In all-in markets for upcoming feature races, he is a +1300 chance in the Melbourne Cup on December 2, while he is also a fancied chance in The Phoenix (+750) on December 16 and the Group 1 Temlee on February 10 (+800).
His brother Alpha Zulu is the race favourite in all three of those features.
Despite the future markets, Thompson revealed that the kennel was in no rush to throw Flying Zulu into the deep end.
“Those races might be a bit much for him at this stage,” he said.
“We will see how he progresses in the next couple of weeks.”
