Gawler greyhound racing cancelled due to extreme weather

Gawler Greyhound Tracks Cancels Sunday Racing Due To Heat
Greyhound Racing has been called off because of the weather conditions for Sunday, March 10.

The decision was made to ensure the safety of both the greyhounds and the spectators.

The region is expecting temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius on Sunday, along with winds and potential dust storms, putting the greyhounds at risk due to their sensitivity to heat.

CEO Mark Williams emphasised that the welfare of the greyhounds is their concern, and they cannot take any chances racing in harsh conditions.

While disappointing for fans, public officials believe it's the call for everyone's safety.

They hope patrons will understand that prioritising greyhound safety is essential.

GRSA will be closely monitoring weather conditions, for meetings during this spell, with prompt notifications if any further cancellations occur.
