Queensland Greyhound of the Year finalists announced
The finalists for the 2023 Queensland Greyhound of the Year have been announced.
Jay Is Jay, Bears Bullet, and Magistrate made it to the list.
The winner will be unveiled at the Victoria Park Ballroom in Brisbane on March 22.
Jay Is Jay, trained by Selena Zammit, had an impressive year with 15 victories out of 26 races.
He made history by winning the Million Dollar Chase and becoming the first greyhound from Queensland to achieve this feat.
Additionally, he set a track record at Albion Park, claimed victories in the G2 Qld Derby, G3 Qld Flame, and Listed Origin Match Race.

Under Greg Stellas guidance, Magistrate had a season with 19 wins and 19 placings from 44 races.
He emerged victorious in both the G3 Ipswich Auction and the G3 Origin Sprint events.
2023 Origin Sprint Race Replay – Magistrate (1st)
Trained by Travis Elson Bears Bullet, she demonstrated her skills by winning the G1 Ipswich Gold Cup and the state National Sprint Final.
This dark brindle greyhound secured 14 wins and 12 placings out of 35 starts while also finishing fourth in the G1 Brisbane Cup.

Racing Queensland CEO Jason Scott praised the finalists for their performances that have added value to Queensland's greyhound racing landscape.”Each of the finalists had successes at the group level in 2023 and represented Queensland on both local and national platforms,” he mentioned.
The event will also acknowledge accomplishments, in the field, such as the Trainers Strike Rate Award, Brisbane Sire of the Year, Brisbane Leading Owner Award, Brisbane Dam of the Year, Top Simbi Award, The Young Achiever Award, Women in Racing Award, Run of the Year Award, RQ Outstanding Contribution Award, Hall of Fame inductions, and Club Award recipients, for top trainers and greyhounds.
