Good Odds Cobber bypasses Golden Easter Egg for New Sensation
In a surprising twist Good Odds Cobber, the up-and-coming star owned by Frank and Tracey Hurst, has decided to skip the $350,000 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg in favour of focusing on the Group 3 Simply Limelight New Sensation.
The Hursts carefully considered this choice, putting the dogs well being and long term success ahead of gains.
Good Odds Cobber, who recently impressed with his multiple wins at Wentworth Park, was seen as a top contender for the Golden Easter Egg.
However, the Hursts believe that the New Sensation, an event limited to ages with a $40,000 final on April 13, will be more than the Golden Easter Egg Final.

“After discussion between Frank and me, we've decided based on what's best for our dog,” explained Tracey Hurst.
“He's still young, at two years old as of January; we want to make sure he gets plenty of chances to shine in races down the road.”
The Hursts understand that age-restricted races like the New Sensation are uncommon and offer an opportunity for Good Odds Cobber to display his skills.
They recognise the appeal of winning a massive cash prize but stress that their main priority is the well-being and future achievements of the dog.
Good Odds Cobber is scheduled to compete on Wednesday evening at Richmond, running the 520m distance, and then aiming for success in the New Sensation heats on April 3.
