Grenfell’s three peat in Group 3 Bidgee Wagga Cup Final
Talented Victorian training duo of Correy and Samantha Grenfell continued their outstanding run of form in last night's Group 3 Bidgee Cup (Wagga Cup) Final, claiming victory for a third year running, with Vayda Bale making it back-to-back wins.
Stepping brilliantly from box four, the daughter of Fernando Bale and Prue Bale sped to the lead at the first turn to salute by three quarters of a length at the finish in a slick 29.99. Special Blend (Ashley Dwyer) and Start Packing (Michael Clayton) tustled throughout, finishing second and third respectively.
Vayda Bale has now recorded three wins and one minor placings from four starts at the track, with fifteen overall victories and last night's $25,000 winners purse, taking her total earnings to $133,515.
It was the first running of the Cup under new President Ben Talbot, with a healthy crowd on course and plenty of new initiatives being implemented, including the recent instalment of a safety rail.
A marathon race was also held over the gruelling 760m journey, with Stagger Out Lee setting a new time standard of 45.25 for trainer Jack Strutt.
