Greyhounds find forever homes in Vic National Adoption Month launch

Greyhound 's (GRV) Program (GAP) kick started with 16 adoptions.

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, Greyhound Racing Victoria's (GRV) Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) held the “Greylight Savings” event at Tullamarine, where 16 retired racing greyhounds found loving homes, kick-starting Greyhound Adoption Month in Victoria.

The excitement was palpable as potential adopters gathered at the venue, eager to offer these deserving dogs a start.

Among the greyhounds who found their forever families were Esther, Deeks, Mexico, Jarvis, Antheia, Rabbit, Braska, Sunday, Cole, Freja, Yogi, Elvis, Rex, Mister, and Kerrie.

National Adoption Month provides a platform for recognised greyhound adoption agencies nationwide to showcase their efforts in rehoming racing greyhounds.

Adoption events will take place every weekend throughout April, with one held last weekend on Saturday, April 13, at Tullamarine again.

The month long initiative will culminate on April 27 with National Adoption Day at greyhound track.

During these events, families can adopt dogs without fees.

Each greyhound will receive a bag of premium dog food to ensure their nutritional needs are taken care of.

These gentle and loving dogs truly deserve the best as they begin their journey as cherished members of a family.

AustralianRacingGreyhound strongly recommends only adopting greyhounds through recognised greyhound adoption programs. There is a GAP in each and every state.
