GRV CEO weighs in on Traralgon greyhound racing lure issues

Traralgon abandoned due to lure issues

The CEO of Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV), Stuart Laing, has expressed regret for the continued interruptions with the Traralgon greyhound lure problems.

The past two greyhound meetings at Traralgon were abandoned mid-program after the battery-powered lure failed.

Greyhound racing activities will not resume at Traralgon until a solution to the lure situation is found.

“We have been experiencing problems with the battery operated lure at Traralgon ” Laing stated.

Laing said his GRV team is working with the lure provider to pinpoint and address the issue before greyhound racing can resume at Traralgon.

Laing said that if the lure manufacturer cannot remedy the situation then “we are exploring the option of switching to a cable lure system.”

“Although this shift would require engineering adjustments it would eliminate our reliance on batteries,” said Laing.

Laing further suggested that greyhound racing at Traralgon may not resume any time soon, saying that “we will not resume racing at Traralgon until we are confident that the lure problem has been addressed.”
