Champion breeder-trainer Dave Robartson believes Hinto is ready to shrug off the effects of a virus and run a competitive race in the Greyhounds WA Young Stars Classic at Cannington on Saturday night.

Hinto is set for an intriguing battle with fellow two-year-old young gun for Krystal and Steve Shinners, Electrified, both to start from boxes two and one respectively.

The talented sprinter, who is also conditioned by Robartson’s wife Christine, takes a respectable second placing into the Group 3 feature worth $35,625 over 520m.

He finished three-quarters of a length behind Zipping Wilbur in his Young Stars Classic heat, recording a time of 30.12 seconds last Saturday.

Robartson was pleased with this effort from the reigning WA Derby champion in his first start back from a kennel cough.

“I brought him back last week. He missed the kick, but I thought it was a very good run,” he told Australian Racing Greyhound.

“He had a kennel cough and I put him out for a couple of weeks.

“It got him right again after a few weeks when he was on antibiotics, and he came good.

“He’s got a good temperament.”

Robartson said Hinto’s battle with fellow inside box-drawer Electrified would be a good one.

Electrified ran a very competitive second to Perth Cup winner Vice Grip in the Greyhounds WA All Stars Sprint on October 22, crossing the line in 29.76 seconds.

That was before he ran the 520m distance in 29.93 seconds in his Young Stars Classic heat last week.

“The hard job will be beating the red dog (Electrified). He’s a pretty handy dog,” Robartson said.

“The one will probably lead – he’s a fairly good little dog.

“If we can sit on the back of him or get around him, all well and good.”

Robartson said Hinto’s strong point was the way he can start races.

“The nights he’s on song, he can lead,” he said.

“And his second split in particular, he can put a gap between them at the first and third turns.

“That’s his forte when he’s spot-on.”

David Hobby will have three starters in Saturday night’s final.

They are Lupini Monelli, Borlotti Monelli and Fava Monelli.
