Jackson Keeping ends run of close calls with Northam win
Jackson Keeping ended a streak of runner-up results with a handy win at Northam over the 297m on Monday.
After four consecutive second-placings, the Brad Cook-trained chaser was sent out as $1.60 race favourite with online greyhound bookmakers.
Out of box five, he used the middle alley to hit the lead and kick away by a length on the turn into the straight.
Adventure Queen ($9.70) served up a late challenge, but she had to settle for second as Jackson Keeping saluted by a half-length with Hummingbird Hana ($4.50) in third.
The win came in a time of 17.34, just a tenth of a second shy of his personal best at the track and trip.

Trainer Cook was happy with the performance but expected it to come sooner.
“I suppose it was a little overdue, wasn’t it?” he said.
“We don’t have any real plans for him right now.
“He will just keep going around Northam for a couple more runs, then maybe we will go back to Cannington.”
Jackson Keeping had not saluted since May 21, when he beat Wake Up Geoff by less than a length at the Cannington 275m.
His career started on July 13 last year with him finishing sixth in a nine-dog field at Ballarat.
He has gone on to prove himself as a consistent placer, landing on the podium in 56% of his races.
The Mepunga Blazer x Shelley Keeping chaser has seven wins and 12 placings from 34 career starts and has banked $18,290 in prize money for connections.
