Lester Sheather Disqualified For 3 Months Over Caffeine Positive

New South Wales greyhound trainer, has been handed a 3 months disqualification for a positive swab to and its metabolites in one of his greyhounds.

The positive swab arose at a greyhound race club meeting back on the 12th December 2008, on which occassion, the greyhound Geoff's A Hero finished a well beaten 6th finishing more than 9 lengths from the winner.

On the 25th February 2009 NSW concluded an into the positive finding of Caffeine, , and in the urine sample taken from Geoff's A Hero when it competed at Temora on 12 December, 2008.

Trainer Lester Sheather was charged with a breach of Rule 83(2)(a) in that he failed to present Geoff's A Hero for racing, drug free, to which he pleaded not guilty.

After careful consideration, Stewards found Lester Sheather guilty as charged.

Stewards disqualified Lester Sheather for 3 months, commencing 25 February 2009 for his breach of Rule 83(2)(a).

Geoff's A FIero was disquaiified from the event.

Lester Sheather was informed of his rights of appeal.
