Local greyhound sensationally backed in Albion Park’s 2023 Group 3 Dashing Corsair final betting

Zipping Whiskey powers away from the field to win the opening heat of the 2023 3 .

Despite the Michael Hardman-trained Zipping Whiskey being the name on everyone's lips after the 2023 Group 3 Dashing Corsair heats last week, a local Queensland greyhound has halved its quote to beat the favourite.

Even more remarkably the greyhound that is the subject of the plunge, could only manage third in its heat last week.

Zipping Whiskey set the pace last week winning in 42.09 to be the equal fastest qualifier for the Dashing Corsair final, with the -trained .

Trained out of Goulburn, New South Wales (NSW) by , Zipping Whiskey had been the favourite with greyhound betting sites to win the $30,000-to-the-winner final.

Zipping Whiskey had previously finished second in the heats of The 715m pop-up race at The Gardens, before a fourth placing in the $500,000 to-the-winner final.

Lining up at his fourth start at the track and trip on Thursday night Zipping Whiskey was as short as +110 in greyhound odds, but has now weakened out to +140 with the plunge on another finalist.

All the money has come for the most inexperienced greyhound in the 710m feature Group 3 final field.

, who has had just 12 starts for five wins, has had been backed with greyhound betting apps from as much as +750 in to +380.

Trained by Queensland greyhound trainer at Dulguigan, Wendy Rocks was a valiant third in last week's heats, after doing all the chasing in the run.

Interestingly, Wendy Rocks has won all her previous races from the inside four boxes, but has still met with strong support despite drawing box eight in the final.

The white and black daughter of Sennachie and Eleanor Racsal won over the 710m at her staying debut in 42.57 best-of-night.

With the move for Wendy Rocks, second favourite Sorority has shifted from +250 to +270.
