Locals Enjoy A Field Day At Casino Greyhounds

Local trainers took home the majority of the “spoils” at last Friday's Casino program, with three trainers preparing doubles. Janice Mc Lean started proceedings with the win of Farmer's Image in the opening event.

She crossed over from the eight box to grab the fence at the first bend before racing away to score by 4 1/4 lengths in a handy 23.19. Two races later, litter sister Bond Beauty repeated the dose when she railed well all of the way to win her maiden heat in 23.75.

To keep the trend going Peter Simpson won two heats of the Blue Paws series. The well graded Rose Chalice made a “one act affair” of her heat by going straight to the front and winning by a mere 12 3/4 lengths. She clocked a very speedy 27.22.

Not to be outdone, kennel mate also began like a rocket, and held on valiantly over the concluding stages to win by a half head in 27.53.

continued the locals run with his two winners. Within Site went within 1 /100 of a second of equalling her shared when she was never headed in the Casino RSM Club Flying. She raced away from a handy field to win by 7 3/4 lengths in 22.77.

then kept up her good form to take out the Valley Pet Supplies distance stake. She was another who was near the lead all of the way, and raced clear near home to salute by 2 3/4 lengths. Her time of 35.40 was a personal best.

With the Group Three Charcoal Inn just around the corner, some classy greyhounds met in the Free For All over 484 metres and the winner Azure Allegro, put in a top performance to score. She was last as they went out of the straight the first time, and her hopes looked forelorn. But chasing keenly into the back she went inside and outside of runners to be in the action near home. Sprouting wings over the concluding stages, she got up to win in 27.41. Neville Robson trains her, and he stated that he couldn't remember a better performance from one of his greyhounds.

After a frustrating run of placings and bad luck, the Vic Sorrenson trained Wot's Right finally broke through to win her maiden. She and Max Result went together in the first half of the race but at the top turn Wot's Right was able to skip away and go on and win by 2 3/4 lengths. The time was 23.23.

Shane Robinson's Uno Midnight won her heat of the Blue Paws in 27.55, and the remaining heat went to Bob Humphrey's Back To Ireland who ran exactly the same time. She led from the first bend and scored by 3 1/2 lengths from .
