Lucy Lobster Dazzles In Group One Vic Peters Classic Victory
Lucy Lobster is the 2014 Group One Vic Peters Classic champion, after a brilliant display from box five tonight at Wentworth Park.
This impeccably bred daughter of Brett Lee and One Tree Hill gave a beautiful exhibition out in front, saluting by half a length over Jewel Action, with pre-race favourite Anything Less a further quarter of a length behind in third.
Punters threw their support behind John Finn's Anything Less who started at just $2.30, with Lucy Lobster made second favourite at $5.50 and Christine Oldfield's Frattini also well supported from box one. Lucy Lobster displayed her trademark early speed once again, recording a handy split of 5.36 to the first mark before fighting off a brave late challenge by Kristy Sultana's Jewel Action. Anything Less suffered heavy interference at the first turn and rattled home to claim a minor placing, with all three greyhounds certain to notch up many more career wins.
Swan Bay trainer Charlie Lamb was optimistic heading of his charges chances heading into tonight's final, with her early speed a huge asset throughout this series. Lucy Lobster began her campaign with a scintillating ten and a half length win in her heat, clocking a smart time of 29.92 before being equally impressive in her semi final win last week, leading all the way once again in fast time of 29.85.
Lucy Lobster recorded her ninth win tonight from start number fifteen and added $75,000 to her impressive prizemoney total that now stands at $100,785.
