Market Movers: Association Cup heats drawn shifts betting odds
The top greyhound bookmakers were quick to react following the announcement of heats and box draws for the 2025 Group 1 Association Cup, with a number of key fancies firming in all-in betting for the $100,000 staying feature at Wentworth Park.
The biggest shift came for Late Night News, which has firmed from $6 into $5 favouritism. Fresh off a dominant heat win last Saturday, the powerful stayer continues to firm with every performance and looks perfectly placed in Heat 4 from Box 2.
Victorian star Ethanol Water has also been well supported, coming in from $8 to . The dual Group 1 winner has drawn wide in Heat 2 but looms as a major force after carving out sizzling times in the Group 1 Galaxy.
Another major firmer is Lanfranco, who now shares the second line of betting at $6 after being as much as $9 earlier. He draws Box 1 in the opening heat and arrives in Sydney boasting a hat-trick of wins in Melbourne over the long trip, including Group 1 success.
Ella’s Babe ($10 into $7) and Groovebird ($16 into $8) also attracted strong support, with both greyhounds returning to their preferred distance ranges. Groovebird was particularly impressive, winning at The Meadows last Saturday, and looks ideally placed from Box 1 in Heat 3.
Among the longer-priced movers, Max Capacity ($34 into $10) is the most notable. The WA stayer smashed rivals in a recent 715m Cannington romp and has been well tried after drawing ideally in Heat 3. Pass Mark ($21 into $12) also shortened significantly, with his midfield Meadows run behind Unreal Speed clearly forgiven.
The 2025 Association Cup heats will be run and won this Saturday night at Wentworth Park, with the top stayers vying for a coveted spot in the final on April 12.
