Michelle Mallia’s Stomping wins 2025 Maidment Memorial at Sandown
Stomping delivered an emphatic performance to claim victory in the Listed Maidment Memorial (595m) at Sandown Park on Thursday, January 23.
Trained by Michelle Mallia, the son of Aussie Infrared and Stepping, showcased his class and tactical brilliance, stopping the clock at 33.99 with the top bookmakers offering $3.60 for the feat.

From the prized box one, Stomping broke cleanly, using the inside draw to his advantage to secure an early lead.
While his rivals, including Canya All Class, faced trouble in the opening stages, Stomping maintained a strong pace, pulling away to secure a decisive three-and-a-quarter length victory over Utrillo Bale, with Paw Yasmin finishing a further three-quarters of a length back in third.
The victory marked Stomping’s seventh city win over the middle distance, further cementing his reputation.
This win adds to Stomping’s impressive career of 18 wins for 53 starts, which includes a standout performance in last year’s McKenna Memorial at Sandown, defeating the likes of Ethanol Water and Big Energy.
