Mick Player’s Procaine Positive Fine Effectively Nulled On Appeal
Greyhound Racing NSW advises that Mr David Armati has ruled on the appeal of trainer Mr Mick Player against a charge under GAR 83 (2)(a), imposed by GRNSW Stewards following inquiries into the greyhound Heart Of Barb testing positive to a prohibited level of Procaine at the Dapto meeting on 18 August 2011.
Mr Player appealed both the conviction and the decision of Stewards to impose a fine of $400. The appeal hearing was conducted on Wednesday 14 December 2011.
The appeal against a charge of having failed to present a greyhound nominated for an event free of prohibited substances under GAR 83 (2)(a) was dismissed. While the offence was established, Mr Armati ruled that it was inappropriate to impose any punishment.
Mr Player was discharged under GAR 98(2) for a period of 12 months on condition that he does not commit any further breaches of these rules.
Heart Of Barb is disqualified from the race and Mr Player’s appeal deposit is forfeited.
