Details for Mr. Fletcher’s service have been announced, with the family welcoming all to celebrate the life of the Association’s much loved stalwart.
Mr. Fletcher’s service will be conducted at the Hillside Chapel, Palmdale at 1.30pm on Friday, January 6, 2012.
Born in 1921, Mr. Fletcher joined the NSW GBOTA’s Central Coast Branch in 1959, and served as a Chairman of the Branch for over 20 years.
“Perce was elected as a Director of the Association in 1982 and retired in 1994 at 73 years of age,” Mr. Rose said.
“A 12 year tenure as a Director indicates just how well respected and admired Perce was.”
Awarded NSW GBOTA Life Membership in 1989 for his input at Branch and District level, Mr Fletcher’s contributions are acknowledged as being above and beyond the standard contribution.
In 2003 the Association appointed Mr. Fletcher as joint Patron of the Association along with Mr. George Bates.
The appointment recognised both men’s ongoing support and work for the participants’ representative body.
Mr Rose said that at the time of the appointment Mr. Fletcher was immensely proud of becoming a joint Patron and enjoyed the continued association with the NSW GBOTA.
“Our thoughts are with Perce’s children and extended family,” Mr. Rose said.
“He was a truly great man who achieved so much in the greyhound industry.”
