Pebble’s Girl proves too strong in Prostate Cancer Cup

Pebble’s Girl was in a race of her own winning the Prostate Cancer Cup at Ipswich on Saturday night.

Pebble’s Girl saluted in the Prostate Cancer Cup Final, serving up an explosive start and lead all the way effort at Ipswich on Saturday night.

Trained by Jamie Hosking, the chaser lined up in the 630m open contest as a +750 prospect on greyhound betting apps.

Hosking said that the next step for his chaser was clearer after this performance, with the three-year-old set to tackle a 630m heat, run on Thursday night, the same night as the Ipswich Cup heats.

“She’s been going really well lately,” he said.

“That was a test to see where she’s at heading into the Ipswich Cup Carnival.

“So she’ll likely go into the 630 heats on that run.”

The field included dual Group 1 winner Palawa King who had headed north for his first start at the Ipswich 630m trip, starting as $1.55 favourite.

Jumping from box four, Pebble’s Girl speared to the lead instantly and dictated terms for the entire trip.

Pebble’s Girl beat home Springtime Rose by 4.5 lengths in 37.07, with the Ned Snow-trained Oh Oh Range finishing in third.

The winning time in the $7,540-to-the-winner final improved on her previous best of 37.53, clocked on September 10.

Although the last time she saluted at the trip was in August last year, she has three wins and six minor placings from 10 looks over the journey.

Armed with a 65% strike rate of landing on the podium, Pebble’s Girl has gone unplaced only once in her last 16 career starts.

Trained by the Darwin native, she finished second in this year’s Chief Minister’s Cup Final on July 23, won by kennelmate Oh Minnie followed by a third-place finish in the Darwin Cup final on August 6, won by kennelmate Eagle Monelli.

With 15 wins and 43 minor placings from 88 career starts, with $107,173 in prize money, she is the most successful littermate from the litter of three out of Rimba Sambia and by Arnhen Villain whelped in 2020.
