Petrichor wins at The Gardens
Petrichor climbed up the with a win at on Wednesday.

Petrichor ran back into the winner's circle after a great performance at The Gardens on Wednesday.

The Jamie Hawkins-trained chaser had placed in her three previous runs over the 400m trip at the Newcastle track.

She was the race favourite, paying $2.90 with online greyhound bookmakers.

Out of box two, she jumped clean and followed the -trained Tonight ($3.40) to the lead.

Petrichor then took the lead and on the turn swung into the straight with a five-length margin on his rivals.

The highly promising speedster won it in a time of 22.86, slashing her previous best of 23.03 at the trip.

She won by four lengths, beating home the Leann Masterson-trained Noon Day Sun ($16) and -trained ($4).

Trainer Hawkins was happy with the performance, with plans for her to run further distance in the future.

“She is a very honest consistent chaser,” he said.

“We will look to step her up in distance.

“I think she will improve in the future.”

Petrichor debuted in December last year over 272m at The Gardens and won by a length, paying $6.50 with greyhound betting sites.

She has since mixed distances with victories at the 272m, 388m and 400m ranges at The Gardens and tracks.
