Redemption Day breaks run of outs to win Townsville Cup Consolation
Redemption Day took out the $18,500 Townsville Cup Consolation on Friday night with a run-down performance.
The Harold Hovi-trained chaser lined up in the 498m contest, paying +400 with online greyhound bookmakers.
At box rise, Lilly Monelli (+1800) got out to lead before Chasing Fernando (+500) and Redemption Day moved up to take over at the front.
On the final corner, Redemption Day extended his lead to run on and win by four and a half lengths.
He beat home the Jedda Cutlack-trained Lilly Monelli and the Mark Partland-trained Chasing Fernando in third, in a time of 28.45.

Last start on August 18, he finished fourth in the Townsville Cup heat, 5.5 lengths off the winner, Young Rob.
Last year, he took out the 2022 Group 3 Townsville Cup by 6.25 lengths in a time of 28.39.
In his last four starts, he has been luckless and has not saluted since June 20, over the 498m at the Townsville trip.
Redemption Day has run the Townsville 498m trip on 27 occasions for 13 wins and five placings, clocking a best time of 28.36 in his last win there.
Kicking off his career in May two years ago over the Townsville 380m with a win, he went on to win six times and place four times in his first 11 starts.
