The Sale Greyhound Racing Club is on the verge of wrapping up an extensive racetrack renovation project, which has spanned over six months and cost a staggering $4 million.

In a groundbreaking move, Greyhound (GRV) has unveiled plans for a major redevelopment that will kickstart a series of infrastructure improvements for greyhound racing clubs throughout the state.

This ambitious project is part of a larger five-year, $50 million investment aimed at elevating the racing environments for greyhounds, participants, and spectators alike.

Construction on the highly anticipated Sale Greyhound Racing Club () racetrack commenced in January, with an estimated completion date set for September.

In a groundbreaking development, the project at hand encompasses a significant expansion of the track width, with a remarkable two-meter increase.

This ambitious endeavour also entails modifications to all four corners, aiming to enhance the overall racing experience.

Not stopping there, a brand new racing surface will be implemented, promising to revolutionise the very foundation of the track.

Moreover, the project will encompass crucial upgrades to the lighting system, rails, fencing, and irrigation, ensuring utmost safety and efficiency.

In an effort to address the prevalent problem of disturbances in quadruped gait symmetry, particularly at the entrance to the first bend, significant changes have been implemented.

The primary objective of these modifications is to enhance the safety measures for racing greyhounds.

In a bid to replace its ageing infrastructure that was nearing the end of its practical life, the SGRC recently underwent a much-needed upgrade.

Originally rebuilt in 2004, this upgrade was deemed necessary to ensure the club's continued success and to meet the demands of its ever-growing patronage.

In a move that underscores GRV's unwavering dedication to the welfare, safety, and sustainability of greyhounds, a significant redevelopment has been announced.

In a commendable display of commitment to their local community, the club has made a conscious effort to exclusively hire local contractors for the redevelopment of the racetrack.

This decision not only showcases their dedication to supporting the local economy but also underscores their desire to foster a sense of unity and collaboration within the community.

In a recent statement, Peter Johnston, the general manager of the club, revealed that the ongoing redevelopment project is a crucial component of GRV's commitment to enhancing the overall racing experience.

He emphasised the positive impact of the investment, highlighting the numerous local contractors and suppliers who have already reaped its benefits.

Moreover, he underscored the newfound confidence instilled in the Gippsland participants who regularly showcase their athletic prowess at the club's track.

The highly anticipated Sale Greyhound Racing Club is gearing up to kick off its on-track trials during the week of July 17.

This exciting development will pave the way for a tentative twilight race meeting scheduled for Saturday, August 12.

Mark your calendars, racing enthusiasts, because the highly anticipated official return to the track at the club has been set for none other than Father's Day, which falls on Sunday, September 3 2023.
