Shapur returns in style with Bulli win
Shapur returned to the races after an eight-month break with a win at Bulli on Tuesday night in his 20th career start.
Coming out of box four in the 340m race, it was his first run in NSW for new trainer Wayne Sugars after moving from the Queensland-based Jedda Cutlack kennel.
The last start for the Konomi x Sawadee chaser was on November 6 at Capalaba, where he won over the 366m by five-hundredths of a length in a time of 19.91.
Top online greyhound bookmakers had him as a $2.40 favourite in his return, after trialling over the Bulli track and trip on June 27 and clocking a decent time of 19.39.
At box rise on Tuesday, Shapur hit the lead in the initial stages and ran on to win by one and a half lengths in a time of 19.27 – a further improvement on his recent trial time.

He has now won eight races with eight placings while banking $19,525 in prize money for connections.
Milly’s Song ($4.20) finished second, adding to her consistent trips to the podium following a move to NSW racing.
The Andrew Bell-trained bitch was stepping out for her first start at the Richmond 340m journey.
She has not missed the placings in her last 10 starts since the move from Victoria with two great wins at the shorter Richmond 320m trip, including a best time of 18.35.
The Fernando Bale x Brylee chaser has won four times with seven placings from 14 starts and has collected $9,810 in prize money.
