Stewards Inquiry No Show Earns Elliot Six Months Disqualification

Greyhound conducted an into the failure of Mr Greg Elliott to attend a when so directed.

Mr Elliott was directed by correspondence to appear before Stewards on 16 June to explain the circumstances surrounding the scratching of Lochinvar Aramis when drawn to compete in Race 10 World 4 Pets Maiden Stake at on 5 June 2010.

Evidence was taken from Mr Greg Elliott, Mr and Mr which is remarkable because although Elliot is now recognised as the trainer of Lochinvar Aramis, the original box draw clearly shows Robert Smith as trainer; and Smith was never called to give evidence at the inquiry.

Mr Elliott pleaded guilty to a charge under GAR 86 (e) in that he refused to attend an inquiry when directed by the Stewards to do so.

Mr Elliott was disqualified for a period of 6 months. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Mr Elliott's flagrant disregard to accede with the directive to attend the inquiry, and the need for penalties to act as a deterrent for industry participants.

In not finalising the inquiry, Stewards have directed Mr Elliott to submit phone records for his mobile phone to ascertain whether grounds exist for the laying of fresh charges.

Mr Elliott was notified of his rights of appeal.
