Temlee, Rookie Rebel & Zoom Top Invitations Issued
A total of 59 greyhounds have been invited to compete in three Group 1 invitationals at The Meadows – including the Macro Meats Temlee, Rookie Rebel and Zoom Top on February 16 – to kick off the three-week Australian Cup Carnival, with a total of over $1 million dollars in prizemoney up for grabs.
The who’s who of greyhound stars (listed below) have been invited with trainers asked to show their interest in competing in the three Group 1 races, with the Macro Meats Temlee now worth $100,000 to the winner and the Rookie Rebel and Zoom Top giving chasers a chance for a $75,000 winner’s cheque.
The Australian Cup Carnival is the world’s biggest greyhound extravaganza, with over $1 million to be won over the famous three-week period (Feb 16, 23 and March 2). The Carnival includes the running of the Group 1 Maurice Blackburn Lawyers Australian Cup ($250,000 to-the-winner), the Group 1 Macro Meats Super Stayers ($100,000), the Group 1 Macro Meats Temlee ($100,000), the Group 1 Macro Meats Rookie Rebel ($75,000), the Group 1 Macro Meats Zoom Top ($75,000) and the Group 3 Cosmic Chief Vic Breeders for maidens ($25,000).
Invitations to nominate for the G1 Temlee, G1 Rookie Rebel or G1 Zoom Top have been posted and expressions of interest close on Friday, February 1, before the panel announces the final field on February 4.
