The Queen Makes It Track Record Number Six

Queensland bitch scored her sixth track record last night at Lismore over the middle distance before a large crowd.

After an mixed Melbourne Cup/Crown Classic campaign which saw the flying daughter of ~ Cheeky Sprite set the time standard in the Crown Classic heats only to run fourth in the Group 1 Final to Cindeen Shelby, “The Queen” was then scratched from the Shootout due to injury but faced the starter just one week later in Melbourne Cup heats, and was run out of the series by Remo Rubik.

Back home in Queensland with trainer Tony Brett and resuming from a two week break, Queen Lauryn was entered for a 4th/5th grade 635m race at Lismore, which had many in greyhound racing surprised, as the Group 1 heats were also scheduled to race this week at her home track of .

However Brett has his black flyer on a middle distance mission with the $30,000 to the winner Group 2 Sale Cup her immediate target with heats to be run at the Victorian Sale track on December 20th.

Last night at Lismore proved that “The Queen” is going as well as ever and if she can handle the tricky Sale circuit, she'll go very close to winning. Beginning quickly from her box 5 draw and racing against a reduced field of runners, Queen Lauryn quickly assumed control and raced away with a 12 length lead past the winning post the first time.

Entering the back straight the result was never in doubt, just the times and margins, with a good 18 length break over her nearest rivals. As heads turned for home and, what seemed like half of Lismore, pushed for room on the rail to see a modern day champion of the track at her best, Cool Rock Hero had put a small 2 length dint in to her lead over the field but the 29kg star strode to the line comfortably for a 16 length win.

Queen Lauryn had just run her sixth track record and in the process erased her litter sister 's name from the register by breaking her previous mark of 37.16 by almost 3 lengths, running 36.98.

The Lismore 635m track record was her 28th win from 48 starts with a further 11 placings and over $277,000 in prizemoney. Her career record stands imposingly with 5 group racing wins in the 2008 Group 2 Queensland Futurity, 2008 Group 1 Crown Classic, 2009 Group 1 BGRC , 2009 Group 3 Darwin Cup and 2009 Group 2 . She has also made group finals of the 2007 Group 1 Vic Peters Memorial Classic (scratched), 2008 Group 2 Ladies Bracelet (2nd), 2008 Group 1 Winter Carnival Cup (3rd), 2008 Group 1 Topgun (6th), 2008 Group 3 Sandown Shootout (2nd) and 2009 Group 1 Temlee (3rd).

Queen Lauryn now holds track records at four tracks , Ipswich, Darwin and Lismore.
