In the Queensland Derby, the outcome was much determined from the start when Morton, a powerful greyhound from Victoria, dominated the age-restricted classic.
Jason and Jessica Sharp, a duo of trainers, guided Morton to a performance by starting from box 5 and maintaining an unbeatable lead throughout the entire race. Prior to the Derby, there was a lot of discussion about how connections had turned down a $200,000 offer for Morton.
However, Jason and Jessica Sharps decision was quickly justified as they walked away with the $75,000 prize money for Mortons victory in the Derby. With a time of 29.65 seconds in this group 2 triumph, Morton has now secured his 11th win out of 17 career starts.
Given his performance so far, he emerges as a strong contender for the upcoming Group 1 Gold Bullion event that will take place in just a few weeks.
