Zipping Orlando dominates in NSW National Sprint Championship Heats

Zipping Orlando stormed into the NSW Sprint Championship taking out the heat over a classy field at Wentworth Park on Sunday.

The John Finn-trained superstar chaser started in the first of three 520m heats as race favourite, at $2.70 odds with online greyhound betting markets.

Jumping from the inside box, he kept his undefeated record from that alley intact as he won in a tight finish by 0.13 lengths.

From box rise, got out to lead as Screaming Jet took over on the turn.

Zipping Orlando ran the leader down as the field swung the turn.

He beat home Screaming Jet ($2.90) and Simply Limelight ($4.20), in a time of 29.52.

The winning time cut back his personal best slightly down from 29.53.

The Zipping Garth x Zipping Dharma dog has an impressive strike rate at Wentworth Park of nine wins from 13 starts.

He saluted in the Final at Albion Park in June this year and took out the Association Cup Final in April this year.

He has 18 wins and nine placings from 36 starts as he marches towards cracking the $800,000 in prize money.

In the second heat, Modern Swinger proved again his ability as a front runner leading the entire trip to salute.

The Chris O'Brien-trained dog was sent out in the heat at $5.50 odds in the market.

Jumping from box two, he hit the lead and led all the way to win by half of a length holding off a late challenge from ($3.60) and We Don't Share ($4.40).

He would win in a time of 29.77 in front of We Don't Share and Wyndra All Class.

The Fernando Bale x Banjo Tifia dog has 11 wins and four placings from 21 starts and has banked $66,850 for .

In the final heat, race favourite found himself in a lot of trouble in the run but fought off the canvas to take it out.

At box rise, Kingsbrae Demon got out to lead with Zipping Remus moving through to battle it out at the lead.

As they swung the final turn, Zipping Remus got an inside alley to come over the top to salute.

He won in front of and Kingsbrae Demon by 2.25 lengths, in a time of 29.76.

The NSW Sprint Championship Final will be held on August 10 at Wentworth Park with the National Final to be held at The Meadows on August 26.
