Wentworth Park betting tips

It is rare that plays host to a Thursday night meeting. But this week, the NSW representatives for the and Distance Championships will be decided. 11 races are on the program starting at 6.25pm local time, and the supporting races are of top quality as well. As always, we will try to find you a winner or two and the big two races.

NSW National Sprint Championship Best Bet (Race 7)

Best Bet – – Final – Zipping Remus

With the Group 1 final to be held in Melbourne later this month, a star-studded field has assembled for this final. You could make a case for most of the field. Zipping Remus did a great job creating a run that wasn't there, forcing his way through along the fence to win his heat. He has the ability to match the speed dogs early and then overpower them late. He may just get the dream run in this race. He may just get carted across to his beloved fence by Wyndra All Class, then rail under them to power away to book his final place. He has a 29.33 personal best, which no dog in this race can match. Yet as is always the case in these big races, with quality greyhounds, he will need a touch of luck and would much rather he drew box one, but he is the one to beat.

Best Bet

Race 7 – SilkZipping Remus (5)

NSW National Distance Championship Best Bet (Race 6)

After winning the Queensland Cup, then went down south and taught the Victorians what middle distance racing was all about. He will be giving Punter's Bandit a head start, as they all will, but with an ounce of luck, he will be the one closest to her and first to run her down. Hasn't raced much at Wenty over the 720m with only 3 starts for a first and a third and doesn't mind being drawn slightly off the track. Has the vacant box under him, which should help him get onto the tail of Punter's Bandit and if his speed and times from Victoria hold up, he will be racing away to represent NSW in the big staying race

Best Bet

Race 6 – SilkPalawa King (6)

Form: 311111 | Career: 42: 19-6-7 | Trainer: Raymond Smith

$2.60 with PlayUp

Next Best Bet (Race 9)

A champion sprinter who will be having his first go at Wenty Park in this race. He was transferred to the kennel to take on the rich Richmond Cannonball sprint series, where he ran 4th in final after missing the kick in the final beating home subsequent Wenty winner Coco's Model. He has won over 600m in QLD and loves to get two or three dogs off the fence so box three might be perfect for him. He has the pace to lead this field and the power to race away with the race, but the key may be the first 50m with Akii Princess drawn outside him. He will get room underneath early with Esme heading to the fence and think the race maps for him to hold the rails early and power away from them. He is a very difficult dog to get past if he can find the front.

Next Best

Race 9 – SilkIsurava (3)

Best Value (Race 10)

Best Value – Race 10 Box 2

Thelma has been freshened up for this race, after getting poleaxed in her last run here almost a month ago. She is so much better when she is drawn down near the fence and gets box two in this race. She will need to clear Rosacky early, who will get off the track and may cause a few dramas from that box. She has only had nine career starts for three wins and four placings, but worryingly, she hasn't saluted here at headquarters as yet. Is a dog with a good future ahead and will be one to follow and may open her Wenty Park account at good odds.

Best Value

Race 10 – SilkRockstar Thelma (2)
