Albion Park is set to host a 12 race program on Thursday night from 6:15PM local time. The meeting is headlined by the Queensland Nationals Final. The likes of Jay is Jay, Bear's Bullet, and Panama Pepper will fight out the sprint (race seven), while Days Of Thunder and Locked On Scotch will fight out the distance (race five). The winner of each respective race will book their tickets to Melbourne for next week's National Final.
Best Bet: Bat Sign (Race 11)
Bat Sign, a son of Zambora Brockie, will be looking to restore the faith to his followers after failing at the short quote last start. After beginning well, he put in an odd stride, which allowed his rivals outside to pressure him, and he responded poorly by running off on the first corner, costing himself any chance of victory. Prior to this, he was absolutely outstanding, winning by upwards of seven lengths in a slick 29.77 over this course and distance. He is much better drawn out wide, as he likes to use the track heading into the first turn. He has a brilliant map with Disaster Piece drawn inside who is desperate to spear to the rails and no speed outside with On The Off likely to find this distance too sharp.

The son of Hooked On Scotch is only lightly raced, having had two starts, and has plenty of upside. Trainer Colin Graham thought enough of him to kick his career off in a Grafton Maiden heat and final worth over $27,000. After missing the kick on debut, he chased hard through a pack and ran down the leader, Minter Win, to score a most impressive victory. Following this, he roared home in the final running third to Heidi McGraw. He unofficially had his first start at Albion Park last Thursday when running in a race where the lure was stopped on the home turn. He was a heavily backed commodity and would have won easily had this not occurred. Thursday's race is weaker, and expect him to make amends from the pink alley.

A small field assembles for the second masters race, where Queenslander looks likely to take full advantage of circumstances. The son of Orson Allen has just ticked over to 42 months and is now eligible for masters competition. This will be music to trainer Garry Gilbert's ears, as he has raced in good company over the past few months, running into the likes of Commands Respect and Cluster. He draws well in box three and maps a treat to get the back of Mystic Cora heading out of the first turn. The last time he found himself in a six dog field over course and trip he ran a personal best of 30.07, defeating future group one winner, Hello Mike. Expect him to close late and repeat these efforts.
