Two NSW greyhound trainers facing immediate interim suspensions

Two New South Wales (NSW) greyhound racing trainers have recently been handed interim suspensions over issues.

Interim suspensions are reserved for very serious offences, and remain in force pending the completion of NSW Greyhound Welfare and Commission () inquiries.

GWIC have failed to release further detail regarding the nature of the misconduct from either trainer, but notably, neither incidents were not related to attendance at a greyhound track.

On October 10, 2023 GWIC Chief Troy Vassallo and Steward Paul Van Gestel handed Nathan Lazarus an pending finalisation of their into his alleged misconduct.

GWIC said that after “considering the evidence currently before the Commission and submissions made by Mr Lazarus' representative, the Commission imposed an interim suspension upon Mr Lazarus pending the finalisation of the inquiry into this matter, pursuant to Rule 169(5)(c) of the Greyhound Racing ”.

On October 10, 2023 GWIC Senior Steward Kevin Adams and Steward Shane O'Shea handed an interim suspension pending finalisation of their inquiry into her alleged misconduct.

GWIC Stewards said that after “considering the evidence currently before the Commission and submissions made by Ms. Sams, the Commission imposed an interim suspension upon Ms. Sams pending the finalisation of the inquiry into this matter, pursuant to Rule 169(5)(c) of the Greyhound Racing Rules”.

GWIC have stated that the investigations into both incidents are still ongoing.
