The appointment of the former ABN AMRO director and executive to chair the board followed his appointment as a board member last September.
“Mr Caley has made a significant contribution during his four months with GRV and his acute financial acumen and understanding of the racing industry make him an ideal person to lead this talented board,” Mr Hulls said.
“Mr Caley’s leadership and financial skills will serve GRV and the greyhound racing industry well, particularly as the industry negotiates the post 2012 wagering and licence arrangements.”
GRV is a statutory body established under the Racing Act 1958 and has responsibility for the regulation, management and promotion of greyhound racing in Victoria.
Making the announcement at the Sky Channel Greyhound of the Year Awards, Mr Hulls thanked out-going chairwoman Jan Wilson for her contribution leading GRV for more than a decade, during which time she helped raise the profile of the code and achieved great success in a number of key areas.
“Mrs Wilson has set high standards for the industry and leaves a remarkable record of success as her legacy,” Mr Hulls said.
“During her 10 years as GRV chairwoman, Mrs Wilson has overseen consistent and continued growth in the key performance areas of wagering turnover and stakes money.
“Mrs Wilson has not only been a dynamic leader for Victorian greyhound racing, she has also been acknowledged by the national and international greyhound industry through her appointment as chairwoman of Greyhounds Australasia and as the first female chairwoman of World Greyhound Racing Federation in 2007.
“In addition to the remarkable growth of greyhound racing, Mrs Wilson will also be remembered for her passionate commitment to animal welfare.
“Her dedication to this cause was highlighted by the establishment and ongoing expansion of the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) and the development of the Seymour GAP property into a world-class facility.”
Mr Hulls congratulated all the winners of the Greyhound of the Year Awards for their fantastic efforts.
